New Signpost and Guidance Programme: dedicated volunteers wanted and we're hiring an experienced advisor

Families living on low incomes face multiple challenges, all contributing to their situation. Guidance and signposting provides information on a wide range of topics, primarily financially focused, to help families address some of these needs.

Our internal research showed that the majority of families referred to Little Village did not know how to access guidance and signposting from existing channels but would welcome the chance to access such a service. In a survey of 400 of our families, 67% said they had never used a signposting service, but 95% would like to use a service of this type from Little Village. Of the 67%, 59% of those families didn’t know that signposting services existed, and 35% knew about them, but had no idea how to access them.

Our new Signposting and Guidance Programme, run in partnership with the Money and Pensions Service, supported by the Mayor of London, will offer signposting to all families supported by Little Village with the objective of increasing family incomes and reducing family outgoings, and / or removing or resolving the barriers to escaping financial hardship.

The programme will be delivered by a volunteer team who will receive 20 hours of training including specialist subject guidance from the Money and Pensions Service and other providers, recognised by City and Guilds. We are looking for people who have great interpersonal skills, are confident with written and spoken English, and feel confident presenting information in a way that is easy to understand.

If you are interested in joining our volunteer team to deliver this programme, you can find more details on the programme and how to apply here.
