“At Little Village, I love being part of such a friendly community and making a real difference to peoples lives. I’ve met some incredible people, who are raising families in difficult circumstances and it’s lovely to be able to offer them some practical help. I love that the charity is so well organised and so the time that I spend there feels really worthwhile.”Sarah Cullington , Volunteer
“We couldn’t believe everything that was on offer. The relief was huge, it was a life saver. I knew immediately I wanted to get involved. I don’t have a job right now, but the satisfaction I get from helping a family and thinking ‘I did that’ is great.”Keith, who with his wife Paulina was supported by Little Village. They both now volunteer.
“Being a mum is nothing like I imagined. Realising how hard it was for me as a single parent despite having reasonable financial comfort made me want to help others. For me, giving nappies is like giving peace of mind. And it makes you feel marvellous!”Lou Forbes, donor of nappies
“As a mum I regularly rely on my community for answers. We all need support in some way or another. Some moral some practical. Little Village is an amazing support for those in need that I have been supporting for years. As a mother of two, knowing the children’s preloved items have gone to an amazing cause has always made me want to do more. It’s amazing!”Ghazala Hafiz, donor of pre-loved baby equipment
“The volunteers are amazing and the stock so helpful, thank you”Mum supported.
“The women here were really warm and welcoming, I felt nervous initially but they put me at ease and really helped me with everything I needed”Mum supported.
“I didn’t feel like just another numbered person to be seen or judged. I also had a say in what I was given.”Mum supported.
“Little Village have done a fantastic job in growing this vital organisation in the heart of Balham. It’s saddening to think that we live in a time where families can’t afford to buy clothes, nappies or cots for their children. Without Little Village, some of the most vulnerable families would be a lot worse off. I’ve been proud to support Little Village as it grows and will continue to hold MP surgeries here to offer further support to the families.”Dr Rosena Allin Khan MP
“At Balham Nursery School and Children’s Centre we support a high number of families who are living in Temporary accommodation as a result of previous trauma in their lives. The team at Little Village work tirelessly, sensitively and thoughtfully to help us to meet the needs of our children and families. Helping families to access resources such as buggies; somewhere for their child to sleep; clothes; and safety equipment means that the parents then have more space and time to concentrate on other areas of their lives. We want to say a huge thank you from the Children’s Centre Team.”Sasha Sagoe, Centre Manager, Balham Nursery and Children's Centre
