Our CEO, Sophie Livingstone MBE, responds to today’s [Wednesday 11 June] government Spending Review. As demand for essential baby items like cots, buggies, clothes and shoes, as well as things like nappies and formula, continue to rise, Little Village knows that without targeted support for children in poverty, families will remain isolated from the help they urgently need:

“Every day, we see the consequences of inadequate support for families — from cramped, mouldy temporary accommodation to unaffordable childcare and the soaring cost of living. Families with babies and young children across London are being failed, with no safety net in place. The government must go beyond measures like free school meals and ensure that all families can afford the essentials from the very start of a child’s life.” Sophie
