Recruiting: Signposting and Guidance Volunteers

Are you looking for an opportunity to use and develop your communication skills and make a real difference to young children’s lives? Are you keen to learn more about working with families to access the support they need in their local community?

Joining our team of Signposting and Guidance volunteers, you will receive 25 hours of training, including specialist subject guidance from the Money and Pensions Service and other providers, recognised by City & Guilds. As a volunteer on this team, you will liaise directly with families over the telephone or in person at one of our hubs in Tooting or Brent. Your weekly allocation of four hours can be carried out remotely and you can choose a weekly time slot that works for you (Monday to Thursday within normal working hours).

The Little Village Signposting and Guidance Programme is available to families supported by the baby bank. It aims to link families with further support and advice in their local community and to reduce the impact of financial hardship.

If you have great interpersonal skills, have strong written and spoken English, and feel comfortable presenting information, over the telephone, in a way that is easy to understand, this is a great opportunity to gain new skills and knowledge whilst contributing to positive change in your community.

Online training for our next cohort of Signposting & Guidance volunteers will be approximately 25 hours spread across three weeks, starting on Tuesday 12th September (8pm-9.30pm) and with further obligatory training confirmed for Tuesday 3rd October (7pm-9pm). Online training will need to be completed during the three-week period and is mostly independent learning at a time that suits you. There will also be four live sessions run by Little Village and external organisations. We are aiming for volunteers to be ready to start in the role immediately after training, in October 2023, and we ask for a commitment of 6 months after training.
