We are delighted to announce that Simon Langford has joined Little Village’s Board of Trustees, bringing with him a wealth of financial, legal and strategic expertise, alongside a deep personal commitment to ensuring every baby has the start in life they deserve.
Simon’s professional background makes him a strong addition to the Board. As co-founder of regulatory consultancy Effecta, he built and scaled the business from the ground up before its successful sale. He also brings over 20 years’ experience in financial services, including leadership roles as co-owner of an institutional brokerage and COO of a global brokerage firm. His experience will help strengthen Little Village’s governance, strategic direction and long-term resilience.
Simon’s connection to Little Village’s mission is also deeply personal. Becoming a parent three years ago gave him first-hand insight into the cost of raising a baby – and how overwhelming that pressure can be for families on low incomes.
On his appointment, Simon said: “Becoming a dad completely changed how I see the world. The joy of those early months is something every family deserves to experience – but for too many, financial pressure turns that time into one of anxiety and hardship. The thought of babies going without is what drives me to do something about it. Little Village does extraordinary work to change that, and I am incredibly proud to support them. I’m looking forward to putting my experience in finance, regulation and business strategy to work for such a vital cause.”
Olivia Gillan, chair of Trustees, welcomed Simon to the Board: “We’re thrilled to welcome Simon to Little Village. His depth of experience, combined with his genuine passion for our mission, will be invaluable as we continue to grow and reach more families across London via our baby bank network. Simon brings both sharp strategic insight and a heartfelt understanding of why our work matters.”
Simon brings a rare combination of entrepreneurial experience and senior financial leadership. Having built and exited a successful business and held key roles at major institutions, he understands what it takes to build sustainable organisations in complex environments – expertise that will be instrumental as Little Village continues to expand its impact across London.
